Orvieto Amabile, without doubt one of the most famous Italian wines.
Known all over the world from the Roman age, this is a wine that has been able to adapt to times and change over the centuries.
Back in the days of its first production it had a more definite sweet taste, and a golden colour. Today it has acquired the characteristics of dry wines with a unique clean crisp peachy flavour, with occasional hints of white flowers and green and golden apples.
The golden abboccato (a specific term in the wine lingo that indicates the sweetness of the said wine, ranging from medium sweet to medium dry) has been defined “Il sole d’Italia in bottiglia” (Italian sun in a bottle) by Giovanni D’Annunzio (famous Italian author and poet) himself.
What you should pair it with?
This is a very versatile wine, a perfect match to seasoned cheese, fish based dishes and soup. It is great on its own so it could be a perfect choice for an aperitivo or a glass at the end of the meal.
If you’re dining with us we suggest to pair it with Cozze alla Marinara, Spiedini di Pesce or Gamberoni all’aglio to begin with, then pick Tagliolini Mari e Monti, a Risotto or any dish from “IL PESCE” section for your main, and you will have the perfect fish based dinner.
